Part 3: The Language of Life: Divine Wisdom in Biological Systems

Life as the Clearest Sign
As our series continues, we now turn from the inanimate order of the cosmos to the most brilliant and self-evident proof of a Creator: life itself. The Risale-i Nur teaches that a single living being, even a tiny fly, carries more compelling signs of its Maker than the entire inanimate universe. Life is a direct and luminous manifestation of God’s attributes of life, knowledge, power, and wisdom. It is a language through which the Ever-Living One makes Himself known.
The Impossibility of Chance and Nature
Said Nursi argues that attributing the origin of life to blind chance or unconscious nature is a logical impossibility. To understand this, consider the profound artistry in a living creature: Purposeful Design: Every living thing is a marvel of purpose. A bird’s wings are perfectly engineered for flight, a fish’s gills for breathing in water, and the human eye for sight. This demonstrates a clear intention and will. Unconscious atoms, having no knowledge or purpose, could never design and assemble such complex, functioning systems.
A Miniature Index of Creation: Each living being is a small-scale summary of the universe. Our bodies are composed of elements found throughout the cosmos, yet they are organized with an unparalleled level of art and complexity. This shows that the One who creates the individual being must be the One who has power over all the elements in the universe.

The Miracle of Provision: The Risale-i Nur highlights that every living creature receives its sustenance in the most appropriate and compassionate way. A helpless baby finds perfect nourishment from its mother, and every creature is provided for. This universal, wise, and merciful act of feeding can only come from a single, All-Compassionate Provider.
To claim that these intricate and interconnected systems are the product of random events is a superstition far removed from reason. The wisdom required to create a single cell is immense. Therefore, the One who gives life to a microbe must be the One who gives life to all things. Every living being is an eloquent word, proclaiming the perfection of its Author.
