The Transition from art to Artist: Do you see God through Nature? (Part 5)

Part 5: The Purpose of the Pageant: Creation’s Address to Humanity

The “Why” Behind the “What”

Throughout this series, we have journeyed from the intricate order of the cosmos to the vibrant language of life, learning to see the Creator’s signature on His handiwork. Now we arrive at a crucial question: Why? Why this grand exhibition of stars, this breathtaking display of biological artistry, this constant pageant of beauty? The Risale-i Nur teaches that the universe was not made in vain. It is a magnificent palace and a vast book, created for a specific audience: conscious beings who can appreciate and understand it.

Humanity as the Honored Spectator

Imagine an artist painting a masterpiece in a locked, empty room where no one will ever see it. It would be a pointless act. Similarly, the Divine Artist created this universe to make His own beauty and perfection known. He fashioned humanity with unique faculties—consciousness, reason, love, and the ability to feel awe—to be the primary spectator and interpreter of this cosmic exhibition.

Our existence gives creation its ultimate meaning. We are the ones who can look at a sunset and not just see atmospheric light scattering, but appreciate the manifestation of Divine Beauty (Jamal). We can study a cell and recognize the signature of Divine Perfection (Kamal). In this sense, humanity is the intended recipient of creation’s message. Every blooming flower, every orbiting planet, and every intricate snowflake is a loving letter addressed directly to us, inviting us to know and love their Author.

This perspective transforms our place in the universe. We are not cosmic orphans lost in a silent, indifferent void. We are the honored guests of a generous Host, invited to a feast for our eyes, minds, and souls. Recognizing this purpose is the first step toward fulfilling our own.
