Part 2: Microcosm and Macrocosm: Signs in the Atom and the Galaxy
The Signature of Unity on All Scales
The profound evidence for God’s oneness is not limited to the vast expanse of the universe. As the Risale-i Nur teaches, the very same signature of unity found in the macrocosm (the great world of the universe) is also stamped upon the microcosm (the miniature world of an atom or cell of a living being). The Creator of the galaxies is necessarily the Creator of the cell. This consistency across all scales is a powerful proof of Tawhid.

As Above, So Below: A Recurring Pattern
Said Nursi points out that the design principles in the universe are repeated at every level. The structure of an atom, with electrons orbiting a central nucleus, echoes the model of our solar system. This is not a coincidence, but a recurring theme from a single Artist. The same fundamental forces that bind the atom together are at play everywhere, demonstrating a singular, unified plan. The power that established the laws governing the stars is the same power that calibrated the forces within a single atom.
The Impossibility of Multiple Causes
The Risale-i Nur presents a rational argument for oneness based on the principle of ease. Attributing all creation to one All-Powerful Being is logical and simple. Conversely, attributing it to multiple causes leads to endless complexities. For instance, creating a single fly requires the power to create the entire universe to which it is connected—its food, its air, its environment. Therefore, the One who creates the part must also be the One who creates the whole. The Lord of the atom must be the Lord of the sun. This indivisible reality is seen in universal elements like air and water, which serve all beings everywhere without confusion, proving they are servants of a single Master.
An Indivisible Whole
This perspective reveals the universe as an indivisible whole. Each part is inextricably linked to every other part, and all bear the same unmistakable seal of their Creator. The human being is described as a “miniature index” of the cosmos, containing samples from all realms of creation within himself or herself. Whether we look outward through a telescope or inward through a microscope, the message is consistent. We witness a single order, a singular wisdom, and a unified power. The microcosm and the macrocosm serve as two distinct mirrors that reflect the same Divine reality, testifying that there is no god but God, the One, the Lord of all worlds.
